CONICAL SHELTERS
Conically roofed buildings - Roundhouses - create beautiful inclusive spaces with a timeless look and feel. Gathering in a circle, around a fire, has forever been a natural way of congregating. Making a change from a typical forward-facing classroom set-out, a structure like this makes an inspiring and lively outdoor classroom setting. A circle (or hexagon; octagon…) creates a welcoming and unique social space, whatever the function.
We have suggested transparent roofing sheets, to keep the space as light as possible. With open sides there is plenty of air-flow to keep the space cool and ventilated in summer. We can of course accommodate any roofing material choice if a different finish is desired.
We can make shelters to any size and specification, with the inclusion of walls, floors, windows and doors - here, we’ve provided an indication of price by illustrating some popular sizes. Please feel free to contact us for more information, advice and a free no-obligation quote for your project!
Groundworks costs and project expenses to be calculated upon enquiry.

We can incorporate almost any desired wall type. We recommend the following, having successfully installed these options many times:
Full height:
‘Coverstrip’ Larch - vertical boards with no gaps
Live edge Larch - vertical boards with gaps
Woven Lathe panels - creates beautiful dappled light and partial ventilation
Half height:
Live edge Larch - with handrail

32mm deck boards on Joists
32mm deck boards on Joists with Anti-slip strips
By fixing the decking joists to the main structure’s timber frame, we can build a solid level deck on any terrain. It is no problem for us to build on a hillside or on uneven ground. See this Forest Platform as an extreme example!
