Longlands Roundhouse
The Roundhouse at Longlands Farm is a 16-metre diameter eco-building that serves as the heart of the farm's educational and therapeutic work. Constructed with a round timber frame and encased in straw bale walls, it exemplifies sustainable design and natural building techniques. A sedum-covered living roof enhances its environmental credentials, while a central 2.2-metre light dome above the oak ring beam fills the space with natural light. The Roundhouse includes a kitchen and both indoor and outdoor learning areas, making it a versatile space for gatherings, shared meals, and educational activities. As the farm's headquarters, it plays a central role in bringing people together in a warm, welcoming, and environmentally conscious setting.
